The short version

Preferred Plumber Company covers plumbing, drains and sewers, water heaters and water treatment across Las Vegas and Clark County. Las Vegas tap water runs 291 parts per million, 17 grains per gallon, which the water district classes very hard, and that single fact drives most of the repeat repairs in this valley.

Start with what is actually happening

Plumbing calls sort into a small number of situations, and the right first step is different for each. Pick the one that matches and you will get to the useful page in one click.

  • Water running that you cannot stop. Shut it off first, then call. Our emergency page shows where the valves are in a typical valley home.
  • One slow drain, or every drain at once. These are different problems with different prices, and you can tell them apart in two minutes.
  • No hot water, or a heater making noise. Rumbling is sediment, which is what 17 grain water does to a tank.
  • A bill that jumped for no reason. Run the meter test before you call anyone. It is free and it settles the question.
  • Spotting, film and appliances dying early. That is hardness, and it is a water treatment conversation rather than a repair.
  • Buying a house. Look at the visible supply pipe and get a sewer camera down the line. Standard home inspections skip the second one.
What we cover

Six groups of work, twenty six service pages

Each card goes to a hub of real pages, not a list of keywords. Every service page says what is included, what decides the price, and what we will tell you not to buy.

How we work

Four commitments, and they are all checkable

Deliberately not a list of adjectives. Each of these is something you can hold us to on the call.

  • The diagnosis comes before the numberWe find out what is wrong, tell you what it is, then price the work. A price quoted before anyone has looked is either padded to cover the unknown or it is wrong.
  • You hear the cheaper option when there is oneA scaled aerator, a salt bridge, a tripped reset. Several pages on this site tell you how to fix something yourself for nothing. That costs us calls that were never jobs.
  • We say what we do not knowThe licence number is published because it was checked on the Contractors Board register first. No rating, guarantee or response time is printed anywhere on this site, because none of those has been verified for publication. In a market where a competitor site publishes a placeholder licence number, a checkable number and an otherwise empty space are both the honest signal.
  • Public fact, citedEvery hardness figure, permit address and licensing rule here links to the agency that published it. Check any of them. That is the point of putting them there.
How it works

Four steps, and you decide at step three

Nothing gets taken apart before you have agreed to the work.

  1. Tell us what it is doing

The symptom, the fixture, when it started, and your address so we know which jurisdiction you are in. Photographs help more than descriptions.

    On the call
  2. We diagnose it on site

The cause gets identified before any price is quoted. On plenty of calls this is the entire value of the visit, because the answer is smaller than the customer feared.

    On arrival
  3. You get the scope and the number

What we propose, what it costs, and the alternative where one exists. You decide. Nothing starts before that.

    Before work begins
  4. We do it and prove it

Repaired, tested under real load, area left clean, and anything else we noticed reported with an honest note on whether it is urgent.

    Same visit where parts allow

Where permitted work is involved, a water heater replacement, a repipe or sewer work, we tell you which of the valley permit authorities covers your address and we handle the permit and the inspection request.

What it costs

What you get from the call, and what decides the price

Here is the promise. Describe what the plumbing is doing and you will get a plain answer about what it usually means, what the repair involves, and what somebody needs to see before quoting it. That happens whether or not you book anything.

Now the part most plumbing sites skip.

What you get from the call

Tell us what the plumbing is doing and we will tell you what it usually means, what the fix involves, and what we need to see before anyone quotes a number.

The five things that actually decide a plumbing invoice

  • Access. The same repair costs very different amounts behind a cabinet, inside a wall, under a slab or four feet down in a yard. Access is usually the largest single variable.
  • Repair or replace. A cartridge is a part. A failed tank, exhausted softener resin or brittle polybutylene is a replacement, and no amount of repair spend fixes those.
  • Parts, and whether they still exist. A common cartridge is cheap and on the van. A control head for a discontinued softener is neither.
  • Permit and inspection, where the work needs them. A water heater replacement, a repipe and sewer work are permitted and inspected in this valley. That is real time and real cost, and work done without it turns up later in a buyer inspection.
  • Diagnosis time. Finding a hidden leak is a separate skill from fixing it, and on a slab leak the locating is most of the job. Paying for it is cheaper than exploratory demolition.

Why there is no price list on this page

No rate, range or diagnostic fee is published anywhere on this site, because none has been confirmed for publication for this business yet. Inventing a plausible looking range would be easy and it would be a fabricated number attached to a real invoice, so it is not here.

What we can do is tell you honestly what moves a plumbing number, so you can read any quote, from us or from anyone else, and know whether it makes sense.

What to ask whoever quotes you

  • Which of the five things above is driving this number.
  • Is this a repair or a replacement, and what made you choose.
  • Does the price include the permit and the inspection, where the work needs one.
  • What is your Nevada contractor licence number. Plumbing is classification C-1, Plumbing and Heating, and the Nevada State Contractors Board register lets you check any licence in about a minute. Ask us the same question.
Checkable, not claimed

We have no reviews to show you yet, so here is verifiable fact instead

A new site with a wall of glowing testimonials should make you suspicious, and this one does not have them because no review corpus has been verified for this brand. Rather than fill the space with invented quotes, these are three things about your water and your county that you can check against the agency that published them.

Your water is 291 ppm, and that is not our opinion

The Las Vegas Valley Water District publishes valley tap water at 291 parts per million, 17 grains per gallon, and categorises it as very hard. It is the reason fixtures and water heaters here do not last as long as the box promised.

Read the water district page

Softening is a preference, not a health need

The Southern Nevada Water Authority states that removing calcium and magnesium softens water but is not a necessity to protect your health. Any company telling you otherwise is contradicting the agency that tests your supply.

Read the water authority page

Nevada plumbing is licensed as C-1

Plumbing and Heating, issued by the Nevada State Contractors Board under chapter 624. You can check any contractor licence on their register in about a minute, and you should, before work starts.

What the work looks like

The three diagnostics that decide most valley jobs

Every one of these is something you can do or ask for before committing money, and each has its own page with the detail.

The hardness figure your appliances are living with

Two agencies publish it and both class valley water very hard. It is the single most useful number for deciding whether treatment is worth it in your house.

Photography note

These are illustrations and diagrams, not photographs of our work. No job photography, before and after pair, van, uniform or team photograph appears anywhere on this site, because we do not have verified photographs of this company work yet and generating them would fabricate evidence about a real business. Real job photography is on the list to add.

Where we work

Las Vegas, Clark County, and the jurisdiction nobody explains

Clark County contains exactly five incorporated cities, Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas, Mesquite and North Las Vegas. Everything else in the valley is unincorporated county, and that is where about a million people live.

Here is the part that matters to you. Unincorporated valley towns are assigned the place name Las Vegas for mailing addresses, so a Spring Valley or Enterprise homeowner has a Las Vegas address and a Clark County permit office. Getting that wrong is the most common wasted phone call in valley plumbing, and every area page below tells you which counter your address belongs to.

We are a service area business. We come to you, so there is no counter to visit and no street address on this page. The number above is the fastest way in.

What to have ready

None of it is required. All of it makes the call shorter.

  • Where you areThe address, and a cross street if the address is new or hard to find. Which end of the valley you are on decides who is closest.
  • What is happening, in your own wordsNo plumbing vocabulary needed. "Water under the sink since this morning" is a better description than a guess at the cause.
  • Whether water is running right nowThis is the question that changes everything else. If it is, say so first and we will talk you to the shutoff before anything else.
  • What you have already triedPlunged it, reset the disposal, flipped the breaker, ran the softener through a regeneration. It saves repeating the steps that did not work.
  • Whether you own or rentA landlord or an HOA sometimes has to authorise the work, and it is better to find that out on the phone than at the door.

Water pouring right now? Do not read the rest of this. Call (725) 255-9011 and shut off the supply while it rings.

Questions people actually ask

What areas do you serve?

Las Vegas and Clark County, Nevada. That covers the City of Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas and Boulder City, plus the unincorporated towns including Paradise, Spring Valley, Enterprise, Sunrise Manor, Summerlin South and Centennial Hills. We are a service area business: we come to you, so there is no counter to visit.

Do you install and repair water softeners?

Yes, all four: installation, repair, replacement and maintenance, for water softeners of all makes and models, including units that were already in the house when you bought it. To be clear about what we are not claiming, we are not an authorised or factory dealer for any manufacturer and we do not describe ourselves as one.

How hard is Las Vegas water?

The Las Vegas Valley Water District publishes valley tap water at 291 parts per million, which is 17 grains per gallon, and classifies it very hard. The Southern Nevada Water Authority publishes 280 parts per million, 16 grains per gallon, regionally. Both are linked on this site so you can check them.

Why is there no price list on this site?

Because no rate or range has been confirmed for publication for this business, and inventing one would put a fabricated number next to a real invoice. Instead, the section above explains the five things that actually decide a plumbing price, so you can read any quote and judge it. Ask for your number before work starts, and you will get it.

Are you licensed, and what is your licence number?

Nevada State Contractors Board licence NV #0078989, classification C-1D Plumbing, held by Preferred Plumbing LLC, which is the licensed entity behind this brand. It is active. Search that number on the Contractors Board register and you will see it under the LLC name rather than the trading name, which is why the holder is printed here beside it: a number you cannot match to a company is not worth much.

Do the same to anyone else who quotes you. A plumbing site serving this same valley prints a licence number in its footer that is plainly a placeholder, seven sequential digits, and the register is how you catch that in about a minute.

Do you offer 24 hour emergency service?

No response window, dispatch time or 24 hour promise is published here, because none has been confirmed for this business. Our emergency page tells you how to shut the water off yourself in the first two minutes, which is worth more than any promise on a web page, and then tells you what to have ready when you call.

What should I do before you arrive?

If water is running, shut off the fixture valve or the main house shut off, commonly in the garage near the water heater, on an exterior wall, or in a box near the street. Keep away from water near outlets or a panel. Photograph the problem before cleaning up, because that is the most useful thing you can give an insurer later.

Do you work on commercial property?

Yes. Restaurants, retail, offices and multi unit property, including grease traps and interceptors, backflow device testing and repair, and water treatment where scale is damaging equipment. Scheduled work is substantially cheaper than the emergency version in a commercial kitchen.

Describe the problem, get a straight answer

You will be told what it usually means, what the fix involves and what we need to see before anyone quotes a number. That happens whether or not you book the work.
